Tree Work for Ranches and New Neighborhoods
Aubrey calls itself Horse Country, U.S.A., and by 2009 horse ranches surrounded the town. That is a big part of what Tree Service means here. On a horse property the questions are practical: will that dead limb fall on a fence and let stock out, is that tree over the barn roof sound, and can the trailer get down the drive without scraping branches? At the same time, houses have been replacing the peanut farms that once ringed town, and the population grew from 2,595 in 2010 to 5,006 in 2020, a 92.9% jump. The 2025 estimate is 9,066. New neighborhoods bring young trees that need very different care.
On ranch and acreage property
Fence-row trees. Old hackberry, bois d'arc, elm and cedar lines along fences are common across north Denton County. They provide shade and windbreak, but dead limbs over wire and posts are a constant repair job. Selective removal of dead and leaning trees, and pruning back limbs over the fence, keeps the line useful.
Shade trees in paddocks. Horses gather under shade, which compacts the soil and wears roots. Big pasture trees under that kind of pressure tend to decline from the top. We look at the crown and the root zone and tell you whether pruning and protection will help.
Drive and gate clearance. Trucks and trailers need height. We lift limbs over drives and gates with cuts back to proper side branches, not ragged breaks left by equipment.
Plants to watch. Some trees are a concern around horses. If you are planting near paddocks, ask your veterinarian which species to avoid before you choose.
In the newer subdivisions
Trees here are mostly a few years old. The most useful work is structural pruning: a single strong leader, good branch spacing, and taking off narrow forks while they are still small. Remove nursery stakes and ties once the tree is rooted, usually within a year or so, so they do not cut into the trunk.
Storm exposure
Northern Denton County is open country, and spring storms come through hard. On May 25, 2024, an EF3 tornado crossed Lake Ray Roberts and lifted just west of Pilot Point, a few miles from Aubrey, after uprooting and snapping trees along much of its 48-mile path. If storms leave trees down on fences, drives or buildings, call (469) 750-3092. We sort out what needs to be done right away and what can wait, and price each part in writing.
Cedar encroachment
Eastern redcedar spreads quickly into pastures and fence lines across North Texas when fields are not burned or mowed, and a few seedlings become a thicket within a few years. Cedars are easiest to remove while small. Larger ones along fences can be cut flush, and because cut redcedar does not resprout from the stump, there is no need to grind stumps in a pasture unless you want the ground smooth for mowing.
Wood and debris
On acreage, some owners want brush chipped and spread as mulch on site, some want logs left for firewood and some want everything hauled. Tell us your preference and the estimate will reflect it. Get a free estimate

Aubrey Questions
Can you clear dead trees along a pasture fence without damaging the wire?
Yes. Trees along fences are taken down in pieces and directed away from the wire where possible. If a tree is grown into the fence, we cut it at a height that avoids embedded wire and mention any fence repair you should plan for.
Do you leave the wood on rural properties?
If you want it. Many acreage owners keep logs for firewood or want chips spread on site. Others want everything hauled. The written estimate spells out which you chose.
Can you clear cedar out of a pasture?
Yes. Small and mid-sized redcedars can be cut low and the brush chipped or piled for you to burn where it is allowed. Cut cedar does not sprout back from the stump, so the work lasts as long as new seedlings are kept down.
Do you work outside town limits around Aubrey?
Yes. We cover properties in and around Aubrey, including ranch and acreage parcels in the surrounding county. Give us the address when you call and we will confirm.
